Patricia Frances Olson

February 24, 1953 to January 6, 2017
It is with the deepest sadness we announce the passing of a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Pat passed away peacefully on the afternoon of January 6, 2017 at NRGH after a lengthy but courageous battle with cancer.
Pat was born on February 24, 1953 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the youngest of three children for Frank and Margaret Warder. They came out west in 1956 to Ladysmith, then to Nanaimo in 1961 where they settled.
In 1973, she met her future husband and best friend Paul, while she worked at the Shell Gas Station in downtown Nanaimo, and he worked at Stewart & Hudson across the street. They were married in June 1981 at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Nanaimo. They welcomed their first daughter, Jennifer Christina in February 1982, then their second daughter Laura Tage on the same date in 1987. Throughout their 35 years of marriage, they enjoyed many laughs and fun times together, whether it was camping as a family through the summers at Craig’s By The Sea in Parksville, or various travels through BC, back to Winnipeg for a couple family weddings or to California to visit friends and family.
Pat leaves behind many that love her dearly, most of all husband Paul, daughter Jennifer (John), grandchildren Reagan (6) and Logan (5), sister-in-law Andrea and stepmother Audrey.
Gone before her and dearly missed are her parents, Frank and Margaret Warder, sister Diane, brother Ken and daughters Karen and Laura.
There will be no service at Pat’s request. In lieu of flowers, please donate to BC Children’s Hospital or a charity of your choice in Pat’s memory.
