February 10, 1936 - August 17, 2018
It is with sorrow-filled hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dynamic, loving father, husband, brother, grandfather, uncle, great grandfather and great uncle Nicholas (Nick) Karbonik on August 17, 2018, at the age of 82 years. 

Nick was born on February 10, 1936 in Calmar, Alberta, to Nicholas and Mary (Yawney) Karbonik. Nick was predeceased by his first wife of 25 years, Marion; his parents; brothers John, Steve, Bill, Fred, Eugene; sisters Anne, Stella, Evelyn, Kay, Leona; and a brother and sister in infancy.

Nick is survived by his loving family; his wife of 26 years, Fredda; daughter Charlene (Brian), grandchildren Connor, Aidan, Laurissa; daughter Karen (Lynne); son Murray (Janet); Fredda's family: daughter Marlene (Jim), granddaughter Heather (Norm), great grandchildren Nolan and Kinley; grandson Will (Daryl); Fredda's son Art and grandson Alex (Justine); Fredda's son Bob (Beth) and grandchildren Byron, Ashley and Claire. He is also survived by brother Richard (Ann), sisters; Helen, Mary and Nadia, sisters-in-law Loretta and Janet and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.  

Nick retired from Gulf Oil Canada in 1986 after long term service in the accounting and auditing departments. He was an active member of the Probus Club of Nanaimo, a former member of the Calgary Elks Lodge and Golf Club and the Nanaimo Golf Club.  He was extremely dedicated to his family and friends and passionate about everything he did, be it golf, gardening, photography, fishing, cooking, travel, or card games.

At Nick's request a private family service was held on Wednesday, August 23, 2018.
