passed away at Dufferin Place, Nanaimo on Wednesday, July 30, 2003. Nancy was born in Edmonton, Alberta on January 20, 1924, the only child of Mr. & Mrs. F. A. Pain. During Nancy’s early years, the family moved to various locations in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, her father being with the Bank of Montreal. Nancy attended Rupertsland Ladies College in Winnipeg and was active in figure skating and tennis as well as developing into a good pianist. Married to Murray Pierce in 1946, she lived in London, Ontario and in Calgary, Alberta a total of 32 years, and was very active with the I.O.D.E., holding various executive positions. Nancy has resided in Nanaimo since 1978. She enjoyed the game of golf, being a past member of the Nanaimo Golf Club. She leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband, Murray, daughters Elizabeth Ann (Fred), Nancy Jane (Gordon) and son Robert Franklin (Barbara) as well as five grandsons and one granddaughter. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 100 Chapel Street, Nanaimo. Reverend Deborah Van der Goes officiating. Interment at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens.
