Mona B. Atchison, 89, died peacefully at home in Nanaimo on Thursday, February 12, 2009 after suffering a stroke two years ago. Mona was predeceased by her loving husband Bert in February 2006.
She is survived by her loving family, son David (Marilyn), grandchildren Drew and Cheryl (Quincy) and great-granddaughter Makayla; son Donald (June), grandchildren Krysten (David), Derek and their mother Lynda. She is also survived by sister-in-law Vera Atchison, brother-in-law Harold Atchison and Ed McMahon along with any nieces and nephews.
Mona and Bert lived in Vancouver and California in their early lives then settled in Vancouver for over 40 years. Mona was an active volunteer at BC Children’s Hospital working in the Gift Shop for many years. Bert and Mona moved to Nanaimo 10 years ago and enjoyed their new life there.
No service by request. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to The Heart & Stroke Foundation in Mona’s honour would be appreciated. As Mona really enjoyed having lunch with her many friends, we ask that you consider taking “A friend to lunch” in memory of her.
