Mildred Neufeld passed away on the evening of Feb. 9 at the Lodge on 4th in Ladysmith.
She was predeceased by her husband Cornelius (Con) Neufeld, daughter-in-law Denise Neufeld, son-in-law Bela Kondas, grandson Clayton Neufeld, and great-granddaughter Brooke Batty. Mildred will be fondly remembered by her children Bill (Phyllis), Barry (Lois Henley), Brian (Marjon), Beryl (Mel) Stevens, Maria (Wayne) Lee, Kathy Kondas (Al MacLellan), her grand-children, Dean Neufeld, Shawn (Ashley) Neufeld, Eric Neufeld, Kim (Paul) Normandeau, Jodie (Sean) Fadum, David (Sara) Neufeld, Sheila (Brian) Batty, Michael Lee, Brenda (Bryce) Reed, Neil (Shannon) Stevens, Melanie (Kevin) Watson, and by her great-grandchildren, Erin and Cassidy Neufeld, Devin, Brock, Drake and Meghan Normandeau, Holly Fadum, Jenna and Carson Batty, Robert Julia and Grace Lee, Aliyah and Addisyn Reed, Dakota and Jacob Stevens, Treyson and Kealey Watson.
Mildred was born in Irma, Alberta and lived in various places while growing up. She and Con were married in Stewart BC in 1942, moved from there to Ocean Falls and eventually came to Chemainus. She lived with her husband and family of 6 children in Saltair for more than 50 years, enjoying the “country” life. She had been a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, was a long-standing member of the United Church in Chemainus, belonged to the Seniors Centre in Chemainus and enjoyed singing in the choir.
A very special Thank You to the staff at the Lodge on 4th for the gentle and loving care that was given to Mom, as well as the comfort offered to her family during her last few days.
A service will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday Feb. 16 at the United Church in Chemainus. Flowers will be gratefully declined in lieu of a donation to the charity of your choice.
