May Patterson passed away peacefully on Friday, June 2, 2012 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, at age 90. She was born in Qualicum Beach on May 6, 1922 to become the oldest child of a family of nine siblings of Edith and Charles Lamson. She is survived by her son, Leslie and daughter-in-law, Marie, and her grandchildren: Zack and Ava. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers: Jessie, Raymond, James (Donna), Charlotte, Lucille (Charlie), Nancy (John), and David (Seonaid).

May lived for many years at her home in Nanoose Bay, where she retired after a career in primary school teaching. She loved being involved with people and the community. She was active with gardening and over the years, was a leader in a quilt making group. She was a member of Parksville Baptist Church. In her last couple of years, she lived at the Lakeside Gardens Retirement apartments in Nanaimo.

May will be missed by her many friends and family. A special thanks to the Nanaimo Hospital staff and all the friends who cared for her.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 1:30 pm at Qualicum Beach Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
