It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mats Gerald Bergman. He died peacefully at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital on December 29th after many years of pain and suffering.
Mats is predeceased by his parents Gerald and Kristina Bergman of Nassjo, Sweden and son Matthew Gerald Bergman (2009).
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Beverly Bergman; Daughter Katrina Leigh Bergman; Sister Inger Adolfsson of Nassjo Sweden; Aunt Gun Lundin; Cousins Siw Svensson and Kjell Lundin.
Mats came to Canada from Sweden in 1972. He has worked as a Civil Engineer in many provinces like Nova Scotia, Alberta, and British Columbia. A former Kiwanian who played a major part in the completion of Kiwanis Village Nanaimo as it stands today. Instrumental in the development of New Horizons in Campbell River, as well as being a dedicated volunteer for his community having lived in Nanaimo for almost 30 years.
A Memorial is to be arranged at a later date - Covid Permitted.
