Passed away peacefully at the age of 100 at Dover House in Nanaimo, BC, Canada. Predeceased by husband Fred in 2005. Born and raised in Coningsby, Lincolnshire England, she was one of seven surviving children born to John Cuthbert and Annie May Lake (nee Leverton). Predeceased by her sisters Fanny, Maisie, Betsy, Jean, Hilda and brother Thomas Cuthbert. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews in England, Canada and Australia.
Aunt May trained as a registered nurse and worked at the London Hospital during the blitz in World War II. She immigrated to Canada with her sister Betsy in 1949 where she continued her nursing career at a number of locations in B.C, Canada, settling in Nanaimo in 1955.
A calm quiet person with a strong work ethic and sense of duty, she knew her own mind. Reasonably healthy until her final days, she retained her mental faculties to the end, and would relate stories of her family and life experiences of the past.
