With profound sadness we announce that Mary Jean Ramsey Stoner (Shore) passed away on February 1, 2021 at Arrowsmith Lodge, in Parksville BC, at the age of 90.
Mary was born in Vancouver BC to Wallace Shore and Jean Shore (Ramsey). Mary will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Elizabeth Aitken and Jean Stoner, her six grandchildren David, Cameron, Sarah, Georgina, Stephanie and Alexander, her six great-grandchildren, her brother Donald, and many nieces and nephews.
Mary graduated from Lord Byng High School and entered UBC where she met and married George Stoner in 1950. They were together for 62 years. George passed away in 2012.
She had vivacious social skills, was an excellent event organizer and a 'hostess extraordinaire'. She was musically talented and loved to perform. Her beautiful, powerful soprano voice was heard singing solos for the church choir, in musical theatre, at evening sing-alongs, and especially singing the national anthem. She was also an avid swimmer and loved to rug hook, knit and sew.
Many visitors joined them in the beautiful home they built overlooking the Winchelsea Islands in Lantzville BC. and they travelled extensively in their retirement years. With both daughters living on Vancouver Island camping trips and special outings with Gramma Mary and Grampa George will always be remembered.
Mary's ashes will be interred at Cedar Valley Memorial Cemetery beside her beloved husband George.
The family will always be grateful for the loving and dignified care which Mary received for 12 years at Arrowsmith Lodge. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Arrowsmith Lodge, 266B Moilliet St. Parksville BC, V9P 1M9.
