Nov 29, 1935 - Feb 5, 2018
We are sad to announce the passing of Mary Dalzell, 82, on Feb 5, 2018.

Mary was born November 29, 1935 in Edmonton, Alberta. She and Stan bought their first home in the new town of St. Albert where they had their daughters Anne (Pearce) and Theresa (McCabe). In 1967 they moved to raise their family in Nanaimo (which she often called her "paradise").

Mary was an LP nurse at NRGH. Over the years she was an active member of the community , particularly in western dancing, carpet and lawn bowling and volunteering to help others who were sick or less fortunate.

She loved her coffee dates with many friends, watching the Blue Jays play, made the best apple pie ever, and kept her beloved family stocked in her famous knit bed socks. She enjoyed long walks along the Nanaimo waterfront, saying hello to dogs and friends along the way. Most of all, she loved and truly missed her husband of 56 years, Stan, who pre-deceased her in December of 2014. In their retirement, Mary and Stan enjoyed many house exchanges and travel adventures.

Mary was predeceased by their infant son in 1967. She is survived by daughters Anne and Theresa, grandchildren Mark, Kyra and Jenna who brought her so much pride and joy, and her supportive son in laws Jim Pearce and Kevin McCabe.

She is also survived by her sister in laws/sister Sylvia, Linda, Pat, and Patricia, plus many nieces and nephews, all of who she loved very much.  She enjoyed a healthy and active life and brought joy, love and compassion to all who were lucky enough to know her.

No formal service will be held at Mary's humble request.  Her family requests in lieu of flowers, donations to Cancer or Heart & Stroke causes, and enjoy a walk in paradise.
