JEFFS, MARJORIE ELAINE

(Nee Ganner)

February 5, 1925 - June 17, 2014

It is with great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Marge on June 17, 2014. Marge is now reunited with her beloved husband, Bob (2002). She is lovingly remembered by her family, Rick (Susan), Leigh (Judy), Roberta (Larry 2010), Bill (Debbie 2011) , Madeline (Alistair), 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, her sister, Gert, a large extended family and many friends. Marge was predeceased by her sisters Muriel (2000) and Dorathy (2014).

Marge was born February 5, 1925. As a native daughter of Nanaimo, she was very proud of her ancestors who, after 6 months of travel around Cape Horn aboard the Princess Royal arrived in Nanaimo at the Bastion on November 27, 1854. Her work ethics were established early in the family’s delivery business and continued to include work at the Metropolitan Store, Nanaimo Civic Area (where she met Bob), the Bank of Montreal and later alongside Bob in his business, RC Jeffs Construction. Marge was proud to be one of the 125 people to receive the City of Nanaimo’s Certificate of Recognition for dedicated service to the citizens of Nanaimo, and was a past president of the Nanaimo Hospital Auxiliary, a founding member of the Nanaimo Quilters’ Guild, and a Cruise Ship Ambassador. Marge was a well-informed, independent, organized and vibrant woman who was line dancing the week before her passing. Marge’s greatest love was her family and she was loved equally in return. Mom left her children these words to remember: “Family is the most important thing in the world. If you haven’t got family you have nothing”. She will be dearly missed.

A celebration of life will be held at the Nanaimo Ecumenical Centre on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Nanaimo Auxiliary to NRGH or the Nights of Columbus would be appreciated.
