McARA, Marion Marguerite
Born Oct 10, 1938 in Coe Hill passed away after a lengthy illness on September 28, 2004 in Nanaimo General Hospital with her daughters and friend Adrienne by her side. Marion was predeceased by her mother and father, Faye and Eric and is survived by her sister Ruth Hermer ( Robert), her brother Lou Reid, daughters Sharon La France (David) and Leslie McAra, grandchildren Jesse, Elijah, and Paige, nieces Glenna, Michelle, Sandy, Debbie, Karen and Tracey and their families. As well, Marion left many close friends from her job at Nanaimo Youth Services and Family Life. Marion moved to Nanaimo 34 years ago and had gained many close friends throughout the Curling Club, the Theater Group and other groups she had participated in. A Celebration of Life will be held a the Dorchester Hotel at 70 Church Road in Nanaimo on her birthday Oct 10, 2004 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. In lieu flowers, the family asks that donations be made in their mothers name to the Canadian Cancer Society. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the palliative care nurses at the Nanaimo General Hospital, especially Gord, Carol and Vi for all their help and caring during this very difficult time. As well, we thank the hospice volunteers and all of Marion’s dear friends who maintained a vigil by her bedside in her last weeks. Thank you to all.
