McINTOSH, Marie Therese Helen “Terry”
of Lantzville, British Columbia joyously entered the Gates of Heaven on June 19, 2013
Terry was born October 31, 1934 in Edmonton, Alberta. She was welcomed into the Tessier family home on the Jesuit College Campus by 3 curious brothers and 2 very excited sisters. Two more brothers followed and the family was complete. Terry was the daughter of Mother Mary “Eileen” Rooney, of Lethbridge, Alberta and Father “Joseph Napoleon” Tessier of Montreal, Quebec.
Terry married Malcolm McIntosh in Edmonton Alberta on July 1st, 1954 and a year later, the young couple and their first born son Craig, with big dreams, headed west in their Volkswagen to Nanaimo, British Columbia to start a new life together. With the crisp ocean air and starry nights, they soon found themselves blessed with three more energetic sons.
Terry was a mom in the true sense of the word. She gave a hug that squeezed out every tear, she loved unconditionally, always put the family before herself and could be counted on above everyone else. Just a little talk could make all your problems go away. Terry had a heart of gold. She loved to cook and bake for family and friends. She was meticulous and generous in everything she did. All compliments to the chef were countered with “it’s made with love.”
Most importantly, like Mother Eileen, she loved a good story that led to a good laugh. For many years Terry could be found “on the go,” starting with a brisk walk at sunrise and then off to provide support to those in the community suffering from grief and illness. And every struggle deserved a happy photo (usually many). Terry was truly one of God’s great servants and impacted so many lives with love and kindness. It was never about her. She lived to serve and served to feel alive. She was there for anyone in need.
Terry had an unwavering faith in God and shared her faith with pride. Today she is resting in God’s Great Kingdom with 1000 angels by her side. She will be missed by all.
Terry is survived by her three brothers: Richard Joseph (Dick), Jacques Emile (Jack), Charles Raymond (Ray); a sister, Cecile Lorraine (Lorraine); four sons: Craig, Forbes, Scott and Angus; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 1 PM at the Bethlehem Retreat Centre, 2371 Arbot Rd, Nanaimo, British Columbia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethlehem Retreat Centre.
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”
“And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.”
