Marie Françoise Renouf-Ziebart, also known as “Fran,” died on June 30, 2017 at Nanaimo General Hospital as a result of complications related to her struggle with ALS. She is survived by her husband Jack. Fran was born August 22, 1931 in a small town in the Gaspé Peninsula, Quebec. She graduated at Gaspé’s Normal school in 1948. She joined the RCAF in August 1952 and served over three years, during which time she was transferred to Whitehorse, Yukon. It was there that she met her husband Jack in March 1954 on a blind date. They were married February 6, 1955. Since Jack was in the RCAF, life took them from Whitehorse to Clinton, Ontario. Jack spent one year in Goose Bay, Labrador followed by both of them living in Winnipeg, France, Germany, Ottawa and Nanaimo, where Jack nally retired. Fran began working in finance with the Niagara Finance Company. She then worked in banking where she retired as a credit officer. Fran did Gourmet catering with a friend for three years and managed a wine and beer supply store for six years. She was a member of the Order of Royal Purple from 1976 - 2014 and was three times their honoured Royal Lady (President). Fran volunteered with CNIB until the offce was closed. She spent seven years as a volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society; and then as an offce volunteer for Hope Lutheran Church. Fran was generous to a fault but was also a tiger if she witnessed any type of abuse or injustice.

A Memorial Service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, 2174 Departure Bay, Nanaimo on Monday, July 10 at 2 pm. In lieu of owers a gift to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
