February 24, 1926 - February 23, 2020
Marie was born in East Bathurst, New Brunswick. She resided in Nanaimo since 1947 after moving from Quebec City. She also lived in Kokish, BC. Following graduation from the Sacred Heart Academy and O'Sullivan's Bilingual Business College in New Brunswick, Marie was employed at the Malaspina Hotel where she met James Mooney in 1947, married, and started their family of five children. Her working career included employment at Bell Telephone Co., BC Tel, T. Eaton Co., Canfor and Crown Forest. Her positive, friendly demeanor allowed her to make many friends. She resided at Long Lake ChЙteau (2013-2019) with her late husband Ernest Boulet, bringing goodwill and friendship to her many acquaintances there.
Marie was predeceased by daughter, Maureen Mooney (1958), husbands James Mooney (1970) and Ernest Boulet (2019) and her nine siblings (Beaulieu). Surviving her, is daughter Sharon Sjerven (Michael), sons Daniel Mooney, Timothy Mooney (Susan) and James Mooney (Judy), stepdaughters Cherie Morris (Nick), Susan McMurtrie (Bill), Diane Knight (Don), stepsons Norm Boulet (Linda) and Robert Boulet (Janice); also numerous grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Marie's happy warm presence shown to those who knew her, will be fondly remembered. She was a dynamic woman whose love of family and friends was of the utmost importance. We will sadly miss her and will cherish our many sweet memories of times spent together.
The family would like to thank all the Doctors, nurses, care-aids and health providers at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and Long Lake ChЙteau. A special thanks to Dr. Hunter, Barb, Terri, Cynthia, Crystal and Lindsay who made her stay at Trillium Lodge Hospice the best.
A service followed by a reception for family and friends will be held at Trinity Catholic Church, Nanaimo BC, on Saturday March 28, 2020 at 11:00 am.
