Marie passed away peacefully on February 27, 2011 after living with cancer for many years. Marie was born in Delmas, Saskatchewan before moving to Mallardville, BC in 1939. Here she married her husband Leopold Poirier in 1952. The day after the wedding they moved to Cedar where they started a family and lived until moving to Nanaimo in 1961. In 1988 Marie and Leo moved to Lantzville where they have enjoyed many years together.

Marie was very active in the Independent Order of Foresters, The Catholic Women’s League, and the St Peters Church choir. She was a member of the First open Heart Society of Nanaimo. Marie enjoyed travelling with Leo, doing crafts, golfing, playing cards, and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Thank you to the palliative care nurses and the home care nurses for your kind and gentle care.
