Marguerite BEVIS

July 4, 2006

BEVIS, Marguerite, was 77 years young when she left this world on July 4, 2006, after a long and vigilant fight with cancer. Born in 1929 to her pioneer parents on the family homestead near Ardill, Sask. She was predeceased by her parents, brother George and nephew Keith. Marguerite is survived by her daughter Barbara (Larry) Wardill; sons David & Craig; and her beloved grandchildren Ryan, Carley, Luke, and Kayla. She is also survived by her dear sister Christine who cared for her during the last year of her life. She also leaves her brothers, Alex, Mike, & Leonard, and sisters Irene & Gloria, all of Saskatchewan. Marguerite took her schooling in a one-room schoolhouse on the prairies, then senior high school at Luther College in Regina. She graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with her Bachelor of Education in 1951. She taught home economics in Melville and Milestone Saskatchewan, then moved to a teaching job in Summerland, BC, then to Nanaimo in 1968. She is to be remembered for her love of singing in choirs, in which she found enjoyment and inspiration. She treasured the simple things in life: loyalty to family, close friends, the beauty of nature, and a commitment to keeping the environment clean. She was a caring and devoted mother and grandmother, and also leaves her special and precious friends, Ina, Scott, and Alex Rogers. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 10, 2006 at 1 PM at St. Andrews United Church. Reception to follow in the church hall. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Marguerite’s memory may be made to the St. Andrews United Church Restoration Fund, 311 Fitzwilliam St., Nanaimo, BC.
