Margaret Slingerland (nee Holt), RN Ret.

Margaret passed away on September 12, 2017.
Born in Torrington, Devon, UK., on February 24, 1949, she emigrated to Canada with her parents and sister in 1957.
She graduated from Esquimalt Sr. High and went into training at the Royal Jubilee School of Nursing. It was there that she met her life long friend Ruth.
On April 11, 1968 she gave her heart to Richard in a marriage that blossomed for the next 49 years. Shortly after they were blessed with a little girl, Jennifer Dianne.
Margaret devoted her life to caring and helping the sick and comforting those in need. She nursed at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson, Chilliwack General Hospital and the last twenty years at the Nanaimo Regional Hospital. While at Nanaimo she worked on the fourth and fifth floors and lastly in Palliative Care. Margaret retired in 2009 and volunteered at the Nanaimo Museum until recently.
We have lost a very gentle, caring person. Margaret leaves to mourn: her devoted loving husband Richard, her daughter Jennifer (Cody Gander) of Victoria, Margaret also leaves her sister Sheila Wheelhouse and mother Beryl Holt both of Mill Bay. Margaret was predeceased by her father John C. Holt.
She loved her grandchildren and will be greatly missed by Kevin Dahl, Eric Dahl and Sophie Gander.
Margaret will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews and other family members, her many friends, and special family friend Linda Kocot.
Margaret will be sadly missed by her loving dog Toby.
A Celebration of life will be held for Margaret on October 17, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Nanaimo Museum, 100 Museum Way, Nanaimo, BC. Ph. 250-753-1821
