Margaret Ness DAVIDSON

August 19, 2006

Davidson, Margaret Ness

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Ness Davidson from emphysema, at the age of 88. She is survived by her daughter Anne Fiddick (Jim), her son Earl Davidson (Carole) and four grandchildren, Tracy Rothery, Susan Ridley, Dean Davidson and D’Arcy Davidson. Also 10 great grandchildren. Margaret was born in Perth, Scotland and came to Canada in 1942. In 1945 she arrived in Courtenay with her two small children and took a position with the Vancouver Island Library. Later she was transferred to Nanaimo and established the Harewood Kindergarten, which she operated for 17 years. She loved amateur theatre and was a member of the Yellow Point Drama Club until the end of her life. Her interest in literature and drama lead her to earn her degree in Speech and Drama which she taught until retirement. She was a Brownie and Girl Guide Leader, a Toastmistress and established the first Arts Council and the Retarded Children’s Association in Nanaimo. Margaret spent the first part of her retirement on Gabriola Island, and then moved to Cedar-by-the-Sea. There was nothing she enjoyed more than a good game of Scrabble. A tea and celebration of her life will be held at the Cedar Community Hall on Saturday, August 26th from 1-4pm. Those who wish to donate should consider the Lung Association or the BC Endocrine Research Foundation.
