Margaret Joan Best
May 18, 1923 - August 27, 2014
Marg passed away peacefully on August 27, 2014. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Elizabeth Best and sisters, Kathleen, Dorothy and Barbara. Marg is survived by brothers Douglas (Audrey), Kenneth (Margaret), Dennis, and Robert (Sandra) and sisters, Joyce (Bill) Kothonoski and Elizabeth (Barry) Darby, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Marg was born in Carragana, Saskatchewan and the family moved to Nanaimo in 1937. Marg attended school in Nanaimo and then served with the Royal Canadian Air force during World War II. For many years she worked at Woolworths on Commercial Street where family members, especially nieces and nephews, were treated to a milkshake or ice cream float. Marg then worked at the Capital Theatre before leaving to help care for her parents. Marg enjoyed keeping track of the many family members and loved to share the most recent news and photos over a cup tea. Our sister, aunt and great-aunt will be truly missed. Marg loved the simple things and would want you to remember her by taking a walk on the beach or planting a rose bush in the garden.
