Margaret Elizabeth Bonneau

April 30, 1943 - August 23, 2019
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Elizabeth Bonneau 76, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother & friend, passed away 23rd August 2019 at the Nanaimo Regional Hospital after courageously battling an illness. At Margaret's request, there will be no funeral service. However, there will be a Memorial Service at her home in Nanaimo, BC on Saturday, August 31st, 2019, starting at 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Margaret was born on April 30th, 1943 in Victoria, BC to Mary Kathleen Staples. She attended Malaspina College where she studied Art. Although Margaret's passion for painting was formed in the early 1970s in Quebec, while in Montreal, Margaret would use her spare time to watch street artists, and this is when she started to explore art.
Margaret loved and was loved by her family. She is survived by five children, three sons; Steven James Sebestyen, Chris Adrian Sebestyen, Kyle Leslie Peck, and two daughters; Michelle Lynn Miller and Nicole Dawn Velenosi. Margaret is also survived by ten grandchildren; Jonathan, Mikayla, Emma, Jared, Tylor, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Adin, Claire, and Garrison. Also, Margaret has four great-grandchildren, Jonny, Lily, Emit, and Briar.
Margaret is predeceased by her best friend and painting companion Ben Gerard Strating, who passed away March 10th, 2013.
Margaret will be remembered for her paintings and her love of art; her work was a statement of her very distinct expression. She loved to share art with all of her family and friends. Margaret was also a long-time member of the Federation of Canadian Artists (Nanaimo Chapter) where she served as a member and was a Past President.
