Lynn passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on January 20, 2020. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Laura; daughters, Jacquelyn Mino (Ryan) and Alina; grandchildren, Claira and Harrison; brothers, Dale (Cathy) and Blair (Linda); sister, Karen Thompson (Glen) and his many nieces and nephews.
Lynn worked at Harmac for many years before returning to school to further his education. He received his Bachelor of Physical Education in 1974 and his Teacher's degree in 1975 from U.B.C. Lynn obtained his Master of Education, June 1985 from U. Vic.
Lynn was a teacher at School District 68 Nanaimo from September 1975 to June 2002. He taught at many schools but did his longest stay at Pleasant Valley School teaching mainly grade 7. He enjoyed it there calling it "Pleasure Valley".
Lynn was a volunteer Ski Patroller at Green Mountain, Grouse Mountain, Forbidden Plateau and in 1980 joined the Mt. Washington Ski Patrol (for 30 years) where he not only enjoyed the friendship and comradely but volunteered to be the secretary for many years. He was also involved with the Nanaimo Area Land Trust and helped with the saving of Mt. Benson from logging. In Lynn's younger years he enjoyed hiking the mountains of Vancouver Island with the V.I. Ramblers. As a young man Lynn was a swim instructor and examiner for the Red Cross and Royal Life Saving Society.
A celebration of Lynn's life will be held Sunday, March 15, starting at 2 pm at the Cavallotti Lodge, 2060 East Wellington Rd., Nanaimo.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Parkinson's Society of BC.
