Lynn Alice Amelia Lacentra

(nee Slunt, formerly Flaig)

We are saddened to announce that Lynn passed away May 23, 2013 in Nanaimo after a long and brave battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Jean Slunt. In addition to many nieces, nephews and cousins, Lynn is survived by husband, Antonio; his children, Fabio and Manuela; and granddaughter, Allegra; brothers, Bill (Darlene), Steven (Susan) and Rob; aunt, Dorothy McAllister; and chosen sister, Kathy Galvin.

Lynn was a teacher and principal with the Calgary Board of Education from 1972–2004. She was a remarkable educator who left an enduring impression on those whose lives she touched. To her cherished circle of friends, she was a woman of style, humor and creativity who was easy to love.

Special thanks to Dr. Diane Millar and the gyne/oncology team at BCCA in Vancouver; the chemo team at Nanaimo Regional Hospital and the Palliative Care Team in Nanaimo; and the outreach support team of Nanaimo Hospice. They were a source of hope, calm and courage.

At Lynn’s request, a celebration gathering was held Monday, May 27, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations to Nanaimo Hospice Society (1729 Boundary Ave. Nanaimo, BC, V9S 4P3) would be an appreciated tribute.
