February 8, 1928 - March 20, 2025
Aunty Lydie passed away quietly and peacefully on the first day of Spring at the age of 97.
Lydia was predeceased by her husband Henry Labrecque and sister Amy Campbell.
Lydia is remembered by her niece, Nancy (Brett), nephew Bruce (Sarah), three great nieces and two great-great nephews.
Lydia and her parents survived the harrowing trip to Canada aboard the S.S. Polonia in 1929 when she was just one year old. The three of them made their way across Canada to homestead in Prince George, BC, and later moved to Victoria where she graduated with a Teaching Degree. Lydia and her husband settled in Port Alberni where she retired following a career as an elementary school teacher.
Lydia was fiercely independent, a gifted writer, quick witted, avid walker and marched to her own drummer!
