Lydia Georgeson passed away peacefully at Arrowsmith Lodge, in Parksville, on October 11, 2007, at the age of 84. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Clarence, who’s patient love sustained her over the last difficult years. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Betty Trites, Nanoose; Joyce Elmore and Bonny Butler, Nanaimo; 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Lydia was born and raised near Alliance, Alberta, attended Normal School in Edmonton, and spent her first year teaching in Grand Prairie. She returned to teach near her home, married Victor Van Hecke in 1944 and moved to Edmonton. The family moved to Richmond in 1955 where Lydia taught school for several years. Victor passed away in 1964. Lydia married Clarence Georgeson in 1966 and moved to Vancouver Island in 1974 where she happily lived out her life.
Many thanks to the nurses and care aids at Arrowsmith Lodge for their care and great compassion throughout her stay.
Lydia will be missed by her family and friends. No service will be held as requested.
