Having lived a long, healthy, happy, and fulfilling life, Luciano - known as Lou by most, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024, at the age of 87, at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
Born in Italy in 1936, Lou immigrated to Canada in 1956, around the same time as four of his six siblings. Shortly after his immigration, he settled in Nanaimo, calling it home ever since. He was an incredibly kind and generous man, always willing to lend a helping hand and share what he had with others. He had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed many, many hunting and fishing trips with friends and family over the years. When not out in the wilderness, you could find Lou tending to his yard or prized vegetable garden, making wine and vinegar, cooking and canning what he had caught or grown, tinkering with things in the garage and around the house, watching soccer or hockey, and playing bocci and cards with all his dear friends at the Cavallotti Lodge.
After the passing of his beloved wife, Helen, in 1982, Lou committed his life to raising their son, Brian. He was an amazing father, teaching Brian how to do all the things that he enjoyed doing and supporting him in every way and with unconditional love.
Survived by his son, Brian, as well as one sister and brother (Mariucci and Mirco) in Italy, Lou will be deeply missed by many near and far. He truly was a very special man.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, August 27th 11:00 am at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church followed by a celebration of life at 1:00 pm at the Cavallotti Lodge. All are welcome.
