December 31, 1944 - September 28, 2020
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Loretta Plett. Loretta was born on December 31, 1944 and passed away on September 28, 2020.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, John Plett of Nanaimo, BC and her two daughters and son-in-law, Dana Plett of Gold River, BC and Darcy and Steven Bubalo of Atlanta, GA. She also leaves behind many members of her extended family including her favorite niece, Carol Perkins.
Loretta met and married John in Rosetown, SK and moved to Saskatoon where their daughter Dana was born. Later the family moved to Prince Rupert where Darcy was welcomed into their lives. Finally, the decision was made to move to Nanaimo in 1979 where she lived until her passing.
Throughout her life, Loretta held many jobs including waitress, telephone operator, school secretary and homemaker.
Loretta has always had a heart for people; living out her Christian beliefs. She continually went out of her way to help others. She spent many, many hours volunteering her time and skills - through the United Church, the 7-10 Club, and spontaneously, as she met people in need.
Loretta had such strength of character and determination to accomplish whatever she set her mind to do. She was a wonderful role model for her daughters.
Loretta also took immense pleasure in cooking and baking for others - her pies were renowned! Family was extremely important to her as were her friends. There is a huge hole left with her passing, she will be greatly missed.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful nurses and caregivers at Chartwell Malaspina Care Residence. They looked after and cared for Loretta for many years.
There is no service planned at this time.
