August 25, 1930 - June 27, 2019
Born and raised in Nanaimo and the youngest child of Catherine and James Johnstone, Lillian passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. Predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Tom Neil. Lillian is survived by daughter Patti (Ron) and son Tom; beloved grandchildren Jennifer (Glenn) and James (Jenny); and much loved great grandchildren Marin and Lily. Lillian is also survived by her sister Jean Dodimead and many nieces and nephews.
Lillian was a devoted Mom, "Gramma" and "GG" and her family was her greatest treasure. Holiday and family get-togethers were very important to Lillian, and she enjoyed hosting and entertaining, always making sure her family and guests were full to the last bite. In recent years, Lillian's pastimes included Bridge, walking, reading and coffee with the "girls".
Lillian's playful sense of humour, kindness and genuine care for others brought about many lifelong friendships as well as more recent ones. She was able to easily connect with people and the relationships she had with others were a priority. Lillian was both strong and gentle and had a gift for making others feel truly special. She will be missed each and every day and is forever in our hearts.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Dodo for his compassion and attention; and to the wonderful staff and residents of Berwick on the Lake.
At Lillian's request, there will be no service. Donations in Lillian's memory may be made to a charity of choice or the BC Cancer Agency.
