LeVero Mitchell Carter, lovingly known as "Blues Man Lee," was born on December 26, 1948, in Berkeley, California, to Velma and Mitchell Carter. On September 1, 2024, he passed away peacefully in Nanaimo, surrounded by love.
A passionate advocate for the Black Civil Rights Movement, LeVero's commitment to justice and equality left a lasting impact. As a successful entrepreneur, he developed properties across Edmonton and BC, always guided by the principles of Patience, Perseverance, and Persistence.
LeVero co-founded The Black Cultural Research Society of Alberta, preserving Black Canadian history and heritage. His faith as a Deacon and music director in the Baptist church shaped his life, and his music uplifted many.
He was a devoted father and grandfather of nine, known for his boundless love and wisdom. In Nanaimo, his presence as Blues Man Lee was a gift to all who knew him.
LeVero now rests in peace, reunited with his parents, Velma and Mitchell Carter, and his ancestors. His legacy of love, faith, and music lives on.
