Leslie Ernest Mottishaw was born in Nanaimo on November 19, 1919, passed away April 18, 2012 in Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Les is predeceased by great granddaughter, Gracie. He will be sadly missed by his loving family, his wife of 68 years, Roberta; son, Terry (Lee); daughters, Leslye, Meredith (John), Tana Neis (Scott) and 8 grandchildren: Jodie Parnall, Ryan Mottishaw, Travis Meredith (Michelle), Teri Dawn Atherton (Mike), Bobbi Benton, Fielding Benton, Dustin Meredith, Rachel Benton, and 5 great grandchildren: Karlie, Haylie, Shelby, Ali and Thomas.
Les showed his love of Nanaimo by volunteering with many organizations, JC Senator, Kiwanis, Grandview Bowl Development Committee, Nanaimo Centennial Chairman 1958 and 1967. Les escorted the Queen on two separate occasions; he also had the honour of being presented to Lady Diana and Prince Charles. He was chairman of United Appeal, Chinese Memorial Society and Empire Day Committee, First Commodore of Nanaimo Bathtub Society, Chief Factor of Nanaimo Native Sons and Citizen of the Year. He served two terms as Alderman for Nanaimo.
A private family gathering will be taking place.
