JAYCOCK, LEONARD FREDERICK

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Len on October 26, 2007.

Born September 26, 1925, on the family farm in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan, Len was predeceased by his loving wife, Marion, of 40 years, and survived by his daughter Terrie, son Dennis (Koy); grandchildren Shawna (Jon), Stacey (Don), Shanay, David (Eden), Dan, Deanna (Sandy); great-grandchildren Saxon, Jaeden, Teegan, Keona, Cooper, and Josh, and his sister Dee, as well as many nieces and nephews in Alberta.

Len spent over 40 years as a commercial fisherman on the “Starlite” with Marion by his side, and later his grandson, David, as his deckhand.

Len was well-known in the town of Ladysmith, having resided there for over 50 years. He could always be found lending a helping hand to family and friends. He was a founding member of the Ladysmith Sportsman Club, and was later honoured with a lifetime membership.

In his later years, Len enjoyed a variety of activities, including spending countless hours in his vegetable garden, annual hunting trips, playing crib twice a week, frequent trips to Maui, making his notorious “hooch” and “care packages” and, most importantly, having his daily “pop” at the Eagles Lounge.

The memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 3rd, at the First United Church, Ladysmith. Please join in the celebration of Len’s life at the Eagle’s Hall, 1:30 pm, 1st Avenue, Ladysmith.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ladysmith Fraternal Order of Eagles.

The family would like to thank Dr. Derek Poteryko and the first floor nursing staff at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital for the exceptional care he received during his brief stay.

Len will be interred in Ladysmith Cemetery and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
