In Loving Memory of Lenora Yvonne Smith

(March 15, 1937 - February 2, 2016)

It is with a heavy heart that we announce Lenora passed away peacefully the morning of February 2, 2016 in Nanaimo with her beloved husband by her side and surrounded by the love of her family. Lenora was truly an inspiration to many and exemplified the true strength of a woman. She was exceptional at everything she did in her life -- the world’s best wife, mother, grandma and friend.

Lenora was born in Prince George, BC, to her parents Fred Byjork and Fanny (Edvold) Byjork.  She met the love of her life at the age of 16, Donald Smith, who would later become her husband of 62 years and father of their four children:  Tony, Steven, Wayne and Karen. They raised their family in Prince Rupert, before moving to Nanaimo, Tsawwassen and lastly, Nanoose Bay. She will forever be remembered for her beautiful smile, nurturing and loving nature, and her incredible cooking.

Lenora is survived by her husband Donald, her brother Fred, children: Tony (Ann), Wayne (Julie), and Karen. Her grandchildren: Stephanie, Kylie, Ashley, Jacquelyn, Taylor, Kirsten and Nathan, and her great grand-children: Ethan, Rowan and Nolan. Her service will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 11:30 a.m.
