Lazar GRUBAC

GRUBAC Lazar, born in 1909 in Yugoslavia, passed away peacefully in the Nanaimo Travellers Lodge on June 14, 2003.

He is predeceased by his wife Anna 1977 and son Marko in 1997. His brothers: Radovan and Vidak; his sisters: Ljubica, Stana and Vidosava.

He is survived by his son Andre and wife Sue; daughter-in-law Tracy; grandchildren Alexzander, Aiyanna, Marika, Mahala, Niko, and Andre; one nephew Melenko and wife Biljana; brothers Gojko, Vaso and Nikola in Yugoslavia.

Lazar came to Canada in 1949, arriving in the East, he traveled across Canada to settle in the Nanaimo/Cedar area the year of 1951 in Cedar. He bought a parcel of land and started his farming career. Lazar’s farming was mixed, doing sheep, cattle, haying and his life long love for beekeeping. He went on to become a Founding Member of the Nanaimo Honey Producers Association. He will be missed dearly by family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 20, 2003, 2:00 p.m. at Sands Funeral Chapel, One Newcastle Avenue, Nanaimo, B.C.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, to the Canadian Diabetic Society.
