It is with great sadness that the family announces his sudden passing on Friday, May 14, 2010 at the age of 70 years. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Jean, daughter Michelle (Kerry Anderson), grandsons Owen and Boyd, son Jason (Sarah) Smith, and granddaughters Simone and

Savannah. He will be sadly missed by his family & friends.


Larry was born in Shoal Lake, Manitoba, and attended Brandon College. He taught in Deloraine for 3 years before moving to Nanaimo where he taught science at Woodlands Secondary School for 32 years. Larry’s greatest joy was playing with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed hockey, skating, photography, gardening, antiques, and traveling.


A celebration of Larry’s life will be held on Friday, May 21 at 2pm at First Memorial Funeral

Services, located at 1720 Bowen Road.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation, #401-495 Dunsmuir Street, Nanaimo, BC, V9R 6B9.
