KARNEY, Keary,

born May 8, 1913 in Big Beaver, Saskatchewan as John Richard Kearney, name changed in the 1930’s to Keary Karney, passed away at Dufferin Place, Nanaimo, BC on December 11, 2002. Prede ceased by: his wife Alice Mary of nearly 50 years in 1995, parents Jim and Roseanna, two brothers Rae and Gordon, and one sister Olive. Survived by:two sons Rae Andrew of Nanaimo, Don Patrick of Milford Station Nova Scotia, and grandson Aaron Karney. Keary served in the Canadian Armed Forces from July 16, 1942 till April 12, 1946. Served in Canada, United Kingdom, Central

Mediterranean area and Continental Europe. He worked in the Lower Mainland area till February 1958, he moved to Nanaimo and has been here ever since. He was a member of the Salvation Army and Mount Benson Royal Canadian Legion Branch 256. The family would like to convey a special thanks to Dr.Latham and the nursing staff at Dufferin Place for all the loving care and attention given to Keary during his stay there. A service will be held on Tuesday December 17, 2002 at 11:00am at the Salvation Army Citadel, 505 8th Street, Nanaimo, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army, Gideons Bible Society, the Legion Poppy Fund or a charity of your choice.
