KATHLEEN "KIT" HANCOCK nee Palmer

December 7, 2016

Kathleen “Kit” Hancock

nee Palmer

FOREVER YOUNG

June 3, 19?? “nobody’s business” to Dec. 7, 2016

Predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, John Hancock and numerous friends and relatives both in England and Canada.

Left to mourn the loss of our Mum (Kit and Nana) are her sons, Dr. Ian Hancock and Steve Hancock with their respective spouses, Denise and Maureen, grandchildren Julian/Dawn Hancock, Adrian Hancock, Meillinne Hancock, Colin Hancock, Chloe Hancock, Brett/Ricki Hancock, Ashley/Ben Clarke and great-grandson McLeay Hancock. Also, Sheila Hancock and the friends and relatives in England and Canada.

From their arrival in Canada from London, England, Kit and John set about making a wonderful life for their family here in Nanaimo. Kit has been active in the I.O.D.E., Nanaimo Theatre Group and numerous organizations over the years. She was employed with the Bank of Commerce, Cunningham Drugs and Simpson Sears over her working career. She was an eager bridge player and enjoyed her many friends in Nanaimo. Kit and John were extensive travellers and enjoyed their warm weather trips to Hawaii.

Kit was always the “life of the party” and her enthusiasm has left us all with wonderful memories. She loved her trips to visit the “kids” in Texas. Fortunately, she was able to see the arrival of her only great-grandchild earlier this year in Nanaimo.

Kit spent some wonderful years at the Berwick-on-the-Lake after our Dad passed away and later, as health became an issue, she was cared for by the loving crew at Malaspina Gardens, in particular Bill and Rowena on the Kennedy unit and Dr. Colin Forrester. Also thanks to our friend RJ and the crew at First Memorial Services for their care and assistance.

As Mum had always said, “my age is nobody else’s business” we are withholding her date of birth but in a private family gathering we will be celebrating her “99 years” of LIFE.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nanaimo Theatre Group in Kit’s name.
