April 21, 1958 - April 4, 2021
Kathy left earthside to join her beloved grandma (Isabelle), her mom (Dorothy) and the countless dogs she had over the years.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Willie John, the world's okayest kids Ashlee (Trevor), Trevor and her adored perfect grandchildren Olivia and Owen. Her sister Sandra (Joe), her brothers Mike (Debbie) and Mark (Jody), her dad Gordie as well as countless friends and family.
Kathy was born in Vancouver and raised in Nanaimo; she spent some time on the mainland with family growing up. In her young years, she was a people pleaser. Kathy always followed the rules and got along with everyone she came in contact with. She learned to be her own person and was unapologetic for who she was in life.
She found her true calling when she became a mom. The many years of having dogs gave her great practice for becoming a mom to her children. Luckily both of her kids made her job as a mom so easy.
She loved to be the biggest cheerleader for them in every activity they did and made sure she was the loudest, proudest one there. The more she could embarrass her kids, the happier she was. Kathy got promoted to grandma in 2017, and this title became what she lived and breathed for. She had a new take on life.
Kathy became a mom to anyone who came to her house, and she would serve her legendary nachos, cheese, crackers, meat and iced tea to everyone. She ensured all of the Harewood kids were in line. You always knew not to mess with Kathy!
She opened her heart and soul to anyone and everyone who wanted it. She would be sure to give you an attitude and put you in your place, all while showing you love.
Kathy, we can't thank you enough for teaching and sharing with us the value of family, love, appreciation for life and how important it is not to take everything so seriously, always laugh at yourself, crack jokes, and take whatever life throws at you, throw it back twice as hard with a laugh, attitude and keep going!
