Katherine Spannier
nee Neufeld
July 2, 1936 – December 9, 2014
It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Kathy during a stay at NRGH. She had courageously battled and won a number of health issues in recent years. Kathy was predeceased by her son Darren and husband of 46 years Gordon, as well as her sister Esther and brothers Ernest and Jake. She is survived by her son Garry, daughter-in-law Janis, sisters Marion, Jo, Margaret, Freda, Charlotte & Erna; brothers Peter and Rudy; many nieces, nephews and many close friends including her special friend Kay Redden. She was born in Saskatchewan and lived on the farm. She moved to Vancouver where she worked as a practical nurse. Kathy married Gordon and they moved to the Queen Charlotte Islands. She worked there as a cook in the logging camp. Later they relocated to Mackenzie and raised their family. Kathy was a devoted wife and mother. She was cheerful, full of life and loved to enjoy a glass of wine and share some laughs with family and friends. Her smile and laughter will always be remembered. Kathy was deeply loved and she will be greatly missed but never forgotten. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday February 7th at the Moose Hall at 1.pm.
