June 6, 1928 - April 7, 2021
June passed away quietly on April 7, 2021 at Wexford Creek Seniors Home at the age of 92. June was born in Radville Saskatchewan on June 6, 1928. She was raised in Kindersley Saskatchewan where she met and married James E Halpenny.
The two of them loved ice skating and Jim played hockey, he sheepishly joined the Winter Carnival just so he could have a chance to skate with June.
They married on Christmas Eve, December 24th, 1948 and had 3 children, Ricky, Randy and Heather - sadly Ricky passed in 1952. They lived in Okotoks Alberta for many years, then went to Calgary and then moved and settled in Nanaimo in 1968.
June was a member to the Royal Purple, Red Hat Society and many years in the Nanaimo Curling Club. Curling was her passion, she curled 2 to 3 times a week for most of her life.
Jim and June lived 38 years in the home they built in Departure Bay in Nanaimo. They enjoyed many fine years boating, water skiing, snow skiing, RV'ing and travelling - they lived a fine life!
June was predeceased by her husband Jim Halpenny, her parents, Arthur and Kathleen Street and her sisters, Dorothy McLean of Saskatchewan and Faye Kinley of Powell River B.C.
June will be fondly remembered by her many nephews and nieces in Alberta and B.C. and her brother in-law & wife of Calgary, Alberta, Frank and Margaret-Ann Halpenny.
Sadly missed by her son Randy Halpenny, daughter, Heather Adams (Dave Lester), grandsons, Michael Adams and Aaron Coburn
Rest in peace Mom
In lieu of flowers, donations to the F.O.S. Society of Nanaimo are appreciated.
