June Margaret Lolk

Born in Edinburgh Scotland October 18, 1929 – Died from cancer, May 1, 2015 Nanaimo, British Columbia. Eldest child of George & Isabella Ingram (deceased). Surviving June is her husband Aage & 2 brothers (George & Gordon), 2 sisters (Greta & Gillian) from the UK. After graduating Portobello High School she worked for the Ministry of Fuel & Power & subsequently for a firm called Millar & Bryce, in the department of Searchers of Records. At 22 June emigrated to Canada & was one of the first women to work in the fingerprint Section of the Toronto Police Department. There she met & married her soul mate Aage Lolk on July 23, 1960. They moved to Coldwater & set up a flourishing manufacturing business of Lolk paddles & canoes. After a holiday here, they retired to Nanaimo in 1989.

June was very social & was on the executive, or a member of many groups (Newcomers Alumni, Trilliums, Danish & bridge clubs). She excelled at gardening, entertaining & decorating seasonally. She was always impeccably dressed, with coiffured hair. June had many best friends & made us all feel like the favourite. We all loved kind June dearly & will miss her with all our hearts. Our condolences go out to her husband, Aage & her overseas family. A grateful thank you to all her physicians & palliative care staff. No service by June’s request.
