Joyce McGee

April 18, 1922 ~ May 10, 2013

Joyce was born in Guelph, Ontario to Maud and Stanley Schofield. She lived in B.C., the Yukon, and P.E.I. before settling on Vancouver Island, where she met, fell in love with and married James McGee in May of 1961.

A woman of wisdom, grace and inner beauty,

Who stayed in touch with the world as we know it today. We mourn our loss, we bless her peace,

and honour her values and beliefs.

She survived many challenges, persevering, looking for that brighter day.

Believing it was always around the corner, on its way, This I know is what she would say...

“Laugh, and the world laughs with you;

Weep, and you weep alone.

For the sad, old earth must borrow its mirth, But has trouble enough of its own.”

“We love you and miss you Mom.

Your amazing spirit will be with us

for ever and always.”

Predeceased by her daughter, Sherry; brother, Red; and sister, Nancy. Survived by her sister, Pearl; husband, Jim McGee and her 4 children: Bill Soles (Mary), Karen Alger, Shannon Chubby (Gordon), and Darren McGee (Carrie); 11 grandchildren: Tiffany, Jaecen, Tim, Auralee, Tammy, Carrie, Katrina, Dallas, Tasha, William and Danielle; 8 great-grandchildren: Chayse, Paige, Jake, Taylor, Krissandra, Steven, Johnathon, and Justin.

We wish to extend our gratitude to the N.R.G.H. Palliative Care Nurses, Doctors, Dr. Mann and to the V.I.H.A. Community Services Network and Staffing, for their incredible compassion and caring of our mother in her final days. Thank you to all, we are grateful.
