Joseph Robert (Bob) Addison

December 28, 1935 - October 5, 2017

With loving hands upon him, Bob passed peacefully on his mother's birthday.

The treasured only son of Joe and Helen Addison, shy, soft-spoken Bobby grew into a confident, tall young man who began accordion lessons at 13.  His love of music led to playing at parties, dances and volunteering at community events.

Bob's responsible nature resulted in being hired as a diver's tender at 15, and soon after, he learned the craft of carpentry under his father's tutelage.  J. Addison & Son earned a stellar reputation as good men who could always be counted on to do a good job.

Bob fell for Barbara Jenkins at 18; they married young, and happily raised their 3 kids.  Many magical summers were spent at their Horne Lake cabin with family and friends.  Bob loved fishing and hunting, communing with nature, and was an active member of the Fish and Game Club.

In 1998, Bob remarried and he and his wife, Ann, enjoyed fishing trips and exploring Mexico and the Maritimes. Their Thanksgiving and Easter dinners at the lake are something the grandkids will always remember.

Dad taught us the value of hard work, fair play, and commitment, but also the joy in a funny story, singing, dancing, and dressing up.

A dedicated family man and the most loyal of friends, he will be deeply missed by his wife, Ann, step-daughter Roxanne (Tim) Grant and their daughter, Brooklyn, his loving children Penny (Pat) McMann, Derry (Cathy) Addison, and Tracy (Keith) Windle, 8 grandchildren:  Sean, Jamie, Russell, Caroline, David, Larissa, Kyle and Mataya, and 4 great-grandchildren:  Aeylah, Preston,  Landon and new baby Nolan.

Dad will also be missed by his many dear relatives and close friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Philip's Church, 1797 Cedar Road, Friday, October 27th at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Our family is so grateful for his team of professional, compassionate caregivers and would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kaban, Dr. Green, and  to the staff at Nanaimo Regional Hospital and Malaspina Gardens.

Love you forever, Dad.
