It is with sad heart that we must announce the accidental death of Joseph Charles Bauman, of Maple Ridge. The contaminated drug supply has claimed another son, father, brother, and uncle, at too soon of an age. We are left wondering why this is still happening to people who need and deserve so much better.
Joe will be remembered by Family and friends, and sorely missed. Predeceased by his Father Terry, he leaves behind his Son Tegan, his Mother Joyce, and Brother Jason to carry his flame higher with the rest of his extended Family.
Joe was a bright, thoughtful, well spoken, sensitive, creative, and caring person. He is remembered for helping others and for advocating for improved community services. Joe used his voice with the media, with the city officials in Maple Ridge, and with the provincial housing ministry to speak to the urgent need for livable affordable housing.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic going on, we will not have a service at this time, but in 2021 we will have a travelling memorial to come to the areas that meant the most to him.
Please - follow his advocacy by always having a Naloxone kit handy, and USE it. Please advocate for the Legalization of Drugs, implementation of Harm Reduction, as well as the ending of Homelessness for all.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Salvation Army Ridge Meadows Ministry Shelter.
