John William
On Thursday November 22, 2012 with his daughters by his side, John William Papp passed peacefully from this world at the palliative care unit at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
John was born in Sask. on July 10, 1927 and moved to B.C. in his 20’s to work at the Somass Mill in Port Alberni. There he met and married Hazel, the love of his life who predeceased him in 2004. He spent the last four years in Stanford Place Care Campus suffering from dementia, but he never lost his sense of humour or wonderful manners. The staff at Stanford treated Dad with the utmost care and loving kindness during this difficult time.
John was predeceased by his only son, Gordon in 2011. Dad had a happy life and leaves behind to mourn his passing, daughters Cheryl Hopps (Larry) and Barbara Hamilton (Allen) grandchildren: Brian Einarson (Michele) Jennifer Edwardson (Scott) and Thomas Hamilton (Madeleine); five great-grandchildren as well as several siblings.
There will be no formal service due to Dad’s wishes, but the family will gather for the scattering of his ashes. We will miss you always, but finally, no more pain.
