March 31, 1957 - August 2, 2018
With sadness and joy, John passed away in to the arm of Jesus, he was a kind and caring soul. John had a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy that affected his whole life but he was determined and overcame many hurdles.

John was ventilated Jan 1, 1987 and lived on a ventilator for thirty one and a half years. Prior to that happening he attained his journeyman electrical ticket and owned and worked his own autobody shop for several years. Following being ventilated, he worked for BC Hydro as a drafter using his electric background for 23 years..... a job he dearly loved.

He is predeceased by his kind father, William Bergen on September 14, 2017. John is survived by his loving wife and caregiver Glenda Bergen of 32 years, his mom Annie Bergen (Peters), mother in law Joan Williams, brother in law Randy Galusha and father in law Ken Galusha (Winnie). He leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

John was an avid lover for classic cars and attended numerous car shows and swap meets up and down the island, Abbotsford and Washington. He owned various classic cars and was a member of the Pacific Coast Mustang Association for many years, something he and Glenda enjoyed together. His other favorite pastimes were; good food, watching football, and furry friends / dogs; Lexie was his special girl.

A very special thank you to Dr. Kingsley for his exceptional care for John over the years but especially the last few months, Debbie Ziprick his care aid that helped take exceptional care of him, as well as many private care aids and home support workers that have worked with John over the past 25 years.

In lieu of flowers, "Always be kind to the ones you love".

Donations can be made to Muscular Dystrophy Canada.

Glenda "Its been a journey.....I will hold John most dear to my heart".
