March 13, 1940 to August 03, 2016

John Michael D’Alessio of Cedar, B.C., died on August 3, 2016 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital at the age of 76. He was born March 13, 1940 at Plymouth, England and attended Kingswood Grammar School in Bristol before enrolling at Gwydwr Forester Training School in North Wales. After graduating from Gwydwr he spent the next several years working on forestry projects with a consulting firm in North Devon. In 1967 he immigrated to Canada and obtained employment with MacMillan Bloedel Limited on Vancouver Island and spent most of the next 20 years supervising forest inventory personnel. He returned to England in 1987 and after another 27 years and following the death of his mother he came back to the Island in 2014 where he hoped to continue with his retirement interests of fine woodworking, gardening and spending time in his extensive library. A unique soul, he will be greatly missed. John was pre-deceased by his father, mother, his brother, Martin and one of his nephews, Ben. He is survived in England by nieces Hayley and Victoria and nephew, Andrew. Interment to take place 11:30 a.m., August 17, 2016 at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, 2347 Cedar Road, Cedar, B. C.
