It is with great sadness that the family of John (Johnny) Frederick Pinnegar announces his passing on March 5, 2018 at the age of 71 years.

John was predeceased by his mothers Joyce Beth (McMillan) Pinnegar and Elizabeth Barbara (Pheysey) Pinnegar and his father Armand Frederick Pinnegar. John will be forever missed by his wife, Betty Ann, happily married for 43 years, and his children Chris Giroux, Cheryl Belanger, Dale (Echo) Pinnegar and Shelley (Walter) Anderson.

Johnny has played a big part in the lives of his 9 grandchildren Melisa, Ryan, Sean, Tamara, Brandon, Tawnya, Jesse, Shylo, Bryce and 6 great grandchildren, Dylan, Emma, Seanna, Kingston, Ava and Annalise.

John is also survived by his numerous brothers and sisters. Mary (Bob) Nelder, Christine (Jim) Gagnon, Gene (CJ) Pinnegar, Michael (Zora) Pinnegar, Raymond Pinnegar, Joanne (Gary) Arsenault, Sharon "Susie" (Dave) Kennedy, and Dr. Ruth Pinnegar.

John will be missed by his favourite k9's Ameca, and Malea, he passionately referred to as his "girls" who wait patiently by the door everyday for him to come home.

Born in Windsor Ontario, John lived in Essex, Echo Bay and Pembroke Ontario, Lethbridge Alberta, Vernon and Nanaimo BC. From 1963 to 1965 John served as a peacekeeper with the Canadian Armed Forces in Germany and Cyprus. John owned numerous restaurants including Johnny's Pancake House and Johnny's Diner, he had his hand in paint stores, towing companies while trucking throughout the majority of his life. In his spare time he loved fishing, cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and spending time with his family.

A private visitation will be held at Sands funeral home Saturday March 10, 2018 for family members and close friends.

An open house gathering to celebrate John's life will held at the home of Shelley and Walter Anderson Saturday March 10, 2018 between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM located at 5514 Garibaldi Drive, Nanaimo BC for all family, friends and coworkers.
