Mackenzie, John Cumming Stanely

passed away on June 7, 2010 in Nanaimo, BC, at the age of 82, with his family by his side.

John “Stan” was born in Forres, Scotland on October 8, 1927. Stan came to Canada eventually settling in Gibsons, BC, where he resided for 45 years. Stan worked for Howe Sound Pulp for 26 years. Retirement was a busy time for Stan, who loved to travel and visited many countries. Stan volunteered for many organizations, but it was golfing that he enjoyed most of all. Stan was a Freemason for 65 years and a member and officer at Mount Elphinstone Masonic Lodge in Roberts Creek for the past 45 years.

Stan will be missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Margaret (nee McLennan); children: Elaine (Maxwell) Whicher and Keith (Martha) Mackenzie; proud grandfather to Christopher McTaggart, Anne Mackenzie, Katherine (Jonas) Mackenzie and Kenneth (Sokhaung) Mackenzie; great grandfather to Kaia Mackenzie Greig. Stan is also survived by his sister Winifred of Hopeman, Scotland, other relatives and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial and Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Sunshine Coast Golf and Country Club, 3206 Highway 101, Roberts Creek, BC.
