Jody Silver (CPL)

September 09, 1971 ~ December 15, 2016

Born Vanderhoof, BC

It is with great sadness that we mourn the sudden passing of Jody Silver.

Jody Silver was a wonderful man with a beautiful heart and soul. He was a dedicated, loyal, and compassionate man that was much admired and respected by all those around him.

Jody had a very lengthy career serving in Canada’s military. He started his service with the military at the young age of 14 when he joined the Air Cadets in Vanderhoof, BC. Jody then joined the army reserves as a radio/teletype operator in Nanaimo, BC. After being in the army for many years Jody’s love of planes eventually won him over and he then switched his uniform and joined the Air Force where he spent the rest of his career working on airplanes. Some of Jody’s career highlights included a UN tour of the Golan Heights, a trip to the Kennedy Space Centre, being posted in Nanaimo, Borden, and Cold Lake and various other parts of Canada. At the time of his passing Jody was posted in Comox.

Outside of the military Jody had many hobbies. He enjoyed British humour, sci-fi, playing cards, and being with family and friends. Jody’s favourite hobby was spending time with his wife/life partner/soul mate/Tara and their four legged children.

Jody is survived by his wife, Tara Damrin, mother and father Ken and Jeannette Silver, his two sisters Heather Silver and Shauna Black, his brother Colby Silver, numerous beloved nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and a great niece. He also had three Dobermans and a cat that liked to bring him gifts.

A service will be held at 1200 hours on December 28, 2016 at Telford’s Burial & Cremation Center, 595 Townsite Road, Nanaimo, BC followed by the burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens with a reception to follow.
