Joanne Tardif

Nov 4, 1962 - Oct 8, 2016

On October 8th, we lost a wonderful caring and loving woman.

Joanne was mom to Alisha Tardif, Desiree Tardif and Beau Jansen. She was Nana to Caleb, Lucas and Darius. She also had many nieces and nephews in both BC and Alberta along with family in Chilliwack BC. Brothers, Michael and Bruce Wegerif, and sister, Jill Campbell, survive Joanne.

Her many dear friends and acquaintances were evidence that she was truly a ‘people’ person. In the early 1980’s, after schooling, Joanne trained as a Long Term-Care Attendant. After she married in 1984, and had her first child, Joanne’s life took many turns. Throughout, she loved and cared for her family. Joanne was known to be there for people in need. She would reach out and help without thought for herself. Gradually, poor health overtook Joanne’s last several years. In February, she found herself to be a young, not yet senior aged resident at the Nanaimo Seniors Village. Her joy of caring for the elderly was evident and in action there, with  volunteering and befriending her older neighbours a natural activity for her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel in Nanaimo on Friday, October 21st at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens.  A reception will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 1356 Cranberry Avenue, Chase River.
